Wonderful article. I'm planning to leave the country in a few years and will hopefully be long gone by 2024. I think America the democracy is effectively dead. It was never really "alive" - electoral colleges, gerrymandering, voter intimidation - but there was at least a facsimile of it. Now even that is being done away with.
